Fiber Registry+ privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-08
1. What Fiber Registry+ is and who provides it
Fiber Registry+ is an Android app and web panel used by fiber-optic deployment companies to record the work their technicians do on site: photos, quantities, measurement files and the location of each job.
It is provided by Cros. Contact for any privacy matter: fiber.registry@gmail.com.
2. Who decides about the data
Each company that uses Fiber Registry+ decides which jobs it records and why: it is the data controller for the data of its jobs and its technicians. We process that data on behalf of that company (data processor), only to provide the service and never for our own purposes.
If you are a technician, a resident or anyone else and want to exercise your rights, contact the company you work with, or write to us and we will pass your request on.
3. What data is processed
- Technician account: first and last name, username, company and assigned projects. The password is stored only as a cryptographic hash, never in plain text. Accounts are created by the company, not by the technician.
- Location: only while the app is in use, when taking a photo or when asking the app to fill in the town or address with GPS. The app does not track location in the background.
- Job photos and files: photos the technician takes or picks (camera, gallery or shared from other apps such as WhatsApp), with a watermark showing the address, coordinates, date and time; PDF reports and measurement files (e.g. OTDR).
- Addresses and codes of homes, closures or labels, read from the photos on the phone itself (text recognition) and corrected by the technician.
- Phone data, for licensing and security: make and model, a random installation identifier and a cryptographic key of the phone that proves the official app is used; a history of the last phones used by each technician.
- Error reports: the technical error message, company and username, so the error can be fixed.
- Technical server logs: IP address and request, for security.
The app does not access contacts, microphone, messages or health data, and has no ads, analytics or tracking.
If the technician turns on the helper for sending photos from WhatsApp (an Android accessibility service), the app only checks which screen is open and, when the technician asks, taps "Share" for them. It does not read chats or send anything off the phone.
4. What the data is used for
- Recording and documenting site work for the company: tracking, checking, certification and invoicing to its client.
- Checking that a job belongs to the stated town, POP or DP.
- Account security: lockout after failed attempts, one session at a time and, if the company enables it, one phone per technician and only the official app.
- Fixing errors in the app.
The legal basis is the relationship between the company and its technician and the company's interest in documenting its work; for us, the company's instructions.
5. Who the data is shared with
Only with the providers needed to run the service:
- Google Cloud: hosting of the data and the server in Frankfurt (Germany, EU).
- Google: the phone's geocoder (turning coordinates into addresses and searching places); ML Kit text recognition, which runs on the phone itself; Street View, which receives the coordinates of the point; and Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers notifications about uploads by colleagues on the project (technician name, town and DP) using a notification identifier of the phone, deleted on sign-out or when the account is deleted.
- Esri: base maps and the place search in the panel (they receive which map area is shown and the search text).
- An email service, for error notices and password recovery.
If the technician chooses to share a job on WhatsApp, they do it themselves from their phone. We do not sell data or give it to anyone for other purposes.
6. How long it is kept
- Job data, for as long as the company uses the service.
- If the company leaves, it can download its data and the data is then deleted; a copy is kept for 30 days in case of a mistake and is then permanently deleted.
- If a technician's account is deleted, their account and phone data are deleted; their jobs remain with the company under their username.
- Technical server logs are deleted automatically after about 30 days.
- On the phone, data is kept in the app's private storage (the session encrypted) and is deleted when the app is uninstalled; it is not copied to Google's cloud backup or to another phone.
7. Security
Encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords stored as a cryptographic hash, data hosted in the EU, access separated by company and project, and backups.
8. Your rights
You can ask for access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability of your data from the company you work with, or by writing to fiber.registry@gmail.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority (in Spain, the AEPD; in Germany, the authority of your federal state).
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
